Unearthed is returning to Melbourne to host a hackathon from 17-19 March at coding skills school General Assembly.

Newcrest Mining will headline the event, providing four real-world data sets and challenges to seek out the next generation of technologies for the mining industry from top local entrepreneurs, innovators and startups.

Highlights of the release:

  • Newcrest Mining will provide four resource industry challenges at the Unearthed Melbourne hackathon event.
  • The hackathon, supported by the Victorian Government, will provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs, innovators and startups to enter the mining industry.
  • Global coding skills school General Assembly will host the Unearthed Melbourne hackathon.
  • Participants include university students from Monash University, RMIT, the University of Melbourne and Swinburne University.
  • Monash University will sponsor the Young Innovator Award.
  • Microsoft will provide Azure cloud services for all teams at the event.
